i think i have a more unusual problem. since long ago my breasts feel very tense and sore starting a week or so before menstruation. sometimes it gets so bad i can't even run or exercise. the first day of the period usually brings complete relief. what can it be? i'm kinda ashamed to talk to anybody about it."

by alice1971
In Breast Cancer Support Forums > Medicine & Treatments
"Complementary medicine, like its name means it is a method that completed scientific and conventional treatment and does not come to replace it (it is not alternative). Complementary medicine is a term used to describe therapeutic techniques that are not part of regular or mainstream medicine. Because it is usually combines with regular treatment it is also known as integrative medicine.

"Pain in ribs?
OK where to start, about five years ago I started to have mild pain more like pressure in my left side of my rib cage it made it hard to sleep breath sit in a car. Dr said it might be torn cartilage he gave me some meds and after a month or so it did get better. But it comes back all the time and last for days weeks even months. I did find a doctor who finally gave me steroid shot"

"my son (12yo) has first signs of acne around his chin and nose.
needless to say he’s horrified, and I’m kinda worried that it will effect his self esteem (being 12yo is very complicated as it is

does anyone know of a one-time treatment to stop acne before it spreads?
the way i see it, its an investment that would pay off (years of acne and self esteem treatments).
Help me and N."

Aspirin - can it cure cancer?
Written by Debra
In Breast Cancer Support Group
"
Aspirin stops headaches, reduces fever and prevents blood from clogging. Now a new research shows that the familiar drug can also stop the expansion of cancer tumours.
These findings may be the start of a new generation of cancer cures. The research was published recently in the American Magazine for Experimental Biology."

Comparison of common chemotherapy treatments for breast cancer
Written by alice1971
In Breast Cancer Support Group
"
Chemotherapy is the use of medicinal substances - or drugs, to treat against cancer by killing tumours. This treatment is systemic, thus it treats the whole body. Differentiations of treatment to sick and healthy areas occur due to the nature of the drugs used. There are many different combinations of drugs used for chemotherapy and the kind used to cure each kind of breast cancer is determined due to the character of the tumour, lymph node status, and the age and health of the patient. Here is a short review of the treatments available and the differences between them. "

Chemotherapy - medicinal treatment of cancer
Written by alice1971

There is no cure for breast cancer today that can be just taken up as a pill or tablet. Chemotherapy is the closest to medicinal treatment or this disease, as it is administrated by giving drugs to the patient. Chemotherapy works on the concept of stopping chaotic, fast and uncontrolled division of cells which is the typical cancer tumour scenario for growth as healthy cells divide in a predefined order. Chemotherapy today is divided into to five typical regimens or combinations of drugs. This article is a general introduction to chemotherapy, how it works and the five most common treatments available today."

A hundred years ago the only treatment available for breast cancer was a removal of the affected breast. Treatment today is still mostly revolved around surgery, but procedure is more refined these days. Surgery is usually combined with two other methods, radiation or chemotherapy. There are also many alternative treatments and new research always leads to new developments. This article is a general review of the most common treatment methods for breast cancer. It is a starting point for anyone who wishes to understand how treatment is administered, but for more elaborated and specific information please consult your doctor."

How to get through winter ailments
Written by Debra
"
The winter months are coming and colds and sniffles are threatening again. Each year, at the time of season change more people become sick and the ailments become harder and it takes longer to get over them. Medicine today looks at this issue as a general problem that is not just the result of more bacterial and viruses in the air, but the result of a bad lifestyle.
