Welcome! My name is Cori. I have been married to my husband for 20 yrs September of 2013. We have two wonderful teenage boys and three dogs so we have a full house. I joined this group in June of 2010 during the process of my husband returning home after a year long manic episode, then diagnosed with having bipolar disorder. There was a lot of betrayal with overspending, leaving job, infidelity etc. I chose to overcome and work through. This group gave me their experience, strength, and knowledge, to add to my hopeful approach. I feel everyone going through this journey needs the tools to get there, and this group has given me a full toolbox to work with. Becoming a group leader is just a small repayment of what was given to me! You may also pm me if you wish, any question, any time!
I met my husband in 1997 and we were married in 1999. He had his first manic episode in 2000 shortly after our oldest daughter's first birthday. I was officially introduced to bipolar disorder after he ended up in the psychiatric hospital a couple of months later. He was hospitalized 2-3 times a year or more up through 2010. I stumbled upon MDJunction in October, 2010. It was so refreshing to find such amazing people that understood what I was going through. I finally learned how to help my husband fight the disorder. He reached stability in April, 2011. He is now a wonderful husband to me as well as a great father to our 2 daughters. We still run into problems but work as a team to keep everything under control. My husband often ran away to drugs and he has a history of self mutilation such as cutting himself. I am an open book and here to help anyone who is dealing with a bipolar partner. I don't want anyone to feel alone like I did for so many years. It is a privilege for me to be a part of this group and to know all of the wonderful members here!
Hi, my name is Laura. I have been married to my bipolar husband for 28 1/2 years. I have three grown children and nine grandchildren!!! I love being a grammy!!!! I came to mdjunction last August looking for emotional support after my husband had a full blown manic episode, where he was overspending, lying constantly, started drinking, irritable acting, and also had a cybersex/telephone affair. I was devastated by all that occured and found of solace in mdjunction. It is good to have a place/forum where you can express yourself and never have to worry about people being tired of listening. I told my story over and over and each time people were there to help me through it. Please feel free to contact me by private message if you ever need or want to just talk. I'm here for you!
I am an active professional who has been married to my loving, brilliant, empathic, and creative bipolar husband since 2004, though he was undiagnosed when we met. In 2006-7, he checked himself into psychiatric wards several times and was arrested and placed in the psych ward of a state prison over a three day weekend. He then accepted his diagnosis and need for treatment. He now strives to stay stable every day and I am part of his team, dealing with this disorder. I hate the stigma that is assigned to mental illness and work to fight the stereotypes about bipolar disorder in particular. I am honored to be part of the leadership team of this amazing group. We support each other and educate each other, we make each other laugh and shed tears with each other. We are a true community and we invite you to join us. Please PM me any time if you want or need to talk.
My husband and I have been married for 23 years and raised a large blended family together. Since he was diagnosed with BP1 and ADHD three years ago we have been working together to learn more about this disease and how to work through it. I am happy to share whatever I can with others.
