I really appreciate your article on Dercum's. It is one of the best I have read.
I have suffered from Dercum's for about 50 years (only diagnosed about 10 years ago). I was getting progressively worse (even though I took handfulls of supplements and watched my diet) till I could barely function. No doctor has ever helped me. I have been keeping up with my blood tests for several years (always normal except for high cholesterol) Then about 4 years ago I had my Vitamin D level tested. It was 23. Minimum should be 35. I started taking high doses of Vitamin D3 (10,000 units).
The next year my level was 35. the next year 45 and this year 67 which is in the ideal range according to researchers.
During those 4 years my symptoms of Dercum's have gradually gotten better. I have very little pain now, and I can function much better.

"I am sorry about your 2 herniated disks. I have been down with one this past week. I took one pack of steroids...I know, I know, big no-no with Dercum's, but it made it a whole lot better and didn't seem to bother the DD much. glad to see you on for a bit."
