| A little about me: | Hi there, I was diagnosed with Dercums Disease in 1995, by the surgeon who was cutting out some of my very painful lipoma's in my back, at that time. I think It actually developed in the nineteen seventies, when I had a large lump cut out behind my left ear. I have found nothing really works to eleviate the pain, albeit temporarily, some things do work, but any lumps removed, come back or are replaced by more lumps, better known as lipoma's. I am doing my Dercums Awareness & Fundraising Drive around Australia, starting 24th June,next month, my 63rd birthday!.Yay!! I will be addressing as many doctors as possible on my drive. U are welcome to come on my journey by joining FB & becoming my friend. I have a large group of DD sufferers & their stories which will be published in the near future in my Booklet. My aim was to havve it all finished by today, but, sadly there have been some setbacks. Not always a negative, as in this case. I have decided, after so many people asking me if they can 'catch' it, to rename it & call it Dercums Syndrome. In reality, that is far more correct. Dr. Dercum, himself called it that as well as Disease. I much prefer syndrome, this, I believe will stop people thinking it is contageous. I value ur opinion. BUT, and that's a big but, I don't know the legalities of changing it. So, the delay in my booklet being published is a positive thing. I was going to call it;- DERCUMS DISEASE WHAT IS IT? but would like to rename it, to DERCUMS SYNDROME. So, if there are any lawers or doctors or publishers out there who can guide me in the right direction I would very much appreciate it. I would hate to infringe on any copyrights! You are welcome to share ur DD story with me if u would like to be included in my book. Thise who have shared their stories come from different parts of the world. The only thing published is ur first name & the country u come fron, male or female.
