| A little about me: | I am here for my mother. She was originally diagnosed in 10/07, had a right mastectomy in 11/07 to remove large tumor, 17 lymph nodes and a thin layer of muscle on chest wall because the tumor had attached. Before the mastectomy the dr's did find a "speck" on her liver but said it wasn't their main concern and it could have been anything, including just a shadow, but if it was cancer and she chose to do follow up treatment it would get rid of it. My mother is an alcoholic and so we "ass-u-me'd" that it was the beginning of scerosis. 6-17-08 she went into the E.R. because she hadn't had a BM in five days...they found that her calcium was at 16 and she was near death...they also found that the cancer was now in more than half of her liver and a small amount in the lining of her lungs. She is Stage IV Invasive Ductal Carcinoma ER-/PR-/Her2+ with extensive mets to liver and minimal mets to lung lining. She will start treatment 7-3-08 which will consist of Decadron, Taxol, Carboplatin, Herceptin and either Avastin or a placebo (she is in a blind study to determine whether Avastin should be approved for first line treatment on BC Mets patients). She has quit drinking and quit smoking for 2 weeks now!! I am her main support system, caretaker, PR Rep, and loving daughter...I would do anything for her. I am very scared and very determined! I will help her fight the fight as much as I possibly can. |
