A little about me: 2008 was a crash course in grief for me. On June 21, my best friend Dale died at 41 of heart failure, at home, unexpectedly. His body sat for three days before his father walked in and found it the following Monday morning. Dale was a kind, gentle guy, had a lot of social anxiety and blood pressure issues, but not enough that you'd expect him to die at 41. He had regular checkups. We both loved music and saw a lot of great shows together, many good times. It's hard for me to believe that I will have no more with him. We were friends for over ten years.

Three weeks later I lost my job. Seemed like almost nothing in comparison to losing my friend, but was a loss, and diffcult, nonetheless.

On November 3, my chronically ill father died at home in his chair. My mom found him the next day. I was very close to my dad. We were buddies of sorts. Some of my finest personal qualities I have him to thank for. He was a great man and I am proud to be his daughter. It was so difficult to watch him suffer through years of surgeries, dialysis for kidney failure, first peritoneal then hemo, failing eyesight, and strength. Through it all he remained optimistic and proud.

Needless to say, I am totally overwhelmed. I don't know what to feel, what to say, and I am physically tired a lot but still have trouble sleeping.

I know many of you have gone through this type of time.
