A little about me: I am the mother of six children and my youngest child who is 8 years old has Autism. We learned this 3 years ago while I was at nursing school. We were always told that he was just delayed until I learned all of this info on Autism and I approached his early intervention teacher and she told me that they didn't say anything because it is up to a parent or doctor. Sorry excuse.....We lost out on valuable time because of it. We have worked alot with my son and will continue to trudge forward. There is no obstacle to big to climb.

Some schools mistaken believe that if they mention the possibility of a disorder and reccommend that a parent discuss it with their dr., that the school will be responsible for medical treatments and/or prescriptions to treat the disorder. I worked for one of these schools. We couldn't discuss the possibility of ADHD with a parent and reccommend they discuss it with their pediatrician be casue the school believed they would have to buy the ritalin. Meanwhile, students just believed they were rotten kids, they endured a lot of grief from peers and teachers, and missed out on a lot of learning
Question: Would they not call a parent and say their child may have the chicken pox and ask them to come pick her up for fear they would have to pay for the dr. visit and a prescription. So idiot lawyers are grossly misinterrpreting the law.
Sorry this happened to you.
