| A little about me: | I am married to a wonderful man since 1982 and we have one 25 year old daughter. We have two birds, Indian Ringnecks, which annoy me. I was a stay at home mom, working a few part-time jobs until my daughter was a senior in high school. She is my light, my reason for living. We enjoyed baking and sewing. I started working full-time at a fabric store when she started college and two years later my life changed forever. I was putting trash in a dumpster at work when the lid was blown down by strong wind and hit my on the top of my head. A few months later I was 20 ft. up on a ladder and had an accident, didn't fall off but maybe that would have been better. I herniated the C5-6 disc in my neck and my life has never been the same. I had surgery to replace the disc a year later, 9/05, because I was losing use of my left arm. I had no more pain, which is a blessing since I am allergic to all pain meds, most antibiotics, steriods, anti-depressants. Yes I survived surgery without pain meds. Three months after the surgery I started physical therapy and that's when the pain started again, trigger points developed, having fibromyalgia for 17 years I have never experienced these. Shots helped, my neck and left arm pain came back and continued to worsen. The nerve was compressed by scar tissue. Over a year and a half ago I started getting pain just above my right eye, on top of daily headaches. I just was diagnosed with Supraobrital Neuralgia. The pain is almost daily, starting in the evening and there when I awake in the morning. Sometimes it's there all day. Everything in my life has changed for the worse and some days I wonder if it's all worth it. I can't do much of anything, no more baking, sewing, cooking, little cleaning, even going for a ride, where I have a neck pillow supporting me, causes pain in my neck, left arm, forehead, upper back. I also herniated a disc, L5-S1, Aug. 07. My fibromyalgia was under control but because of all the stress from my injury and subsequent problems it is now out of control. I have no energy and am losing hope. I don't even have the energy to deal with doctor appointment or treatments. Update 11/09 - I have since learned that I have two pinched nerves in my neck at C5 & C6, so I'm worse off than before my neck surgery. I also recently had problems with my mid-back hurting and have bone spurs pinching a nerve at T6-7 and a herniated disc at T9-10. And to think I thought things couldn't get any worse they have. My ON/SON continues to get cause pain, but it's not continual pain, my mid-back is causing pain all the way around to my ribs and the lower back is still screaming. I wake up ever morning and don't know which of these areas is going to cause me the biggest problem for the day. I call is "Pain Du Jour", which one is the worst. I'm so glad that I found these boards and have met so many wonderful people to share my story with, vent to and learn from. |
