| A little about me: | I am 61 and taking care of my 80 year old mother with alzheimers. She was diagnosed about 7 years ago and has done really well up till now , but she is getting much worse now. She is phyically healthy and wants to do things but she seems to lose something every day now. So sad she is getting depressed (thats new for her) and cries because she can't remember how to wash dishes,or any of the household chores. Her clothes are always inside out or backwards, shoes on the wrong feet etc. She has taken to following me from room to room and talking to herself. She gets terrified if I go anywhere at night without her, and taking her off is like taking a large child, she can't find the door, can't do the seat belt, can't' open the window. She can't see well , the Dr. says her brain is not getting what she is seeing She fights going to bed and will get up and take her sheets off, or get in the shower with some of her clothes and try to wash them in the shower. These late nights are killing me. I know I'm not alone but sometimes it sure feels like it. I really want to keep her with me as long as possible so maybe if I vent here I can survive. |

Caregiving for my mom with alzheimers and my husband who has parkinsons,bipolar,diabetis,copd,and early heart failure is a full time job and some days seems impossible. God keeps my head above water, and this forum keeps me from screaming.
