| A little about me: | When I first joined MDJ, I became heavily involved in the Lyme forum. I put my life on hold from a lot of other things for quite some time! After 18 years of searching and asking all the right questions, I have finally been diagnosed, despite negative tests, and I'm pretty convinced that the diagnoses of CFS and FMS are actually Lyme, thanks to a number of friends and a LOT of investigation. I'm active with the GA Lyme Association (www.GeorgiaLymeDisease.org), as active as I can be, and I really appreciate all the info they and MDJ have given me! I was diagnosed with FMS first, then CFS several years ago, after suffering from symptoms that date back over the course of about 18 years. I found a diagnosis of Raynaud's Syndrome in my medical records while reviewing them for an appointment with a new doctor. Very distressing, actually. It was never mentioned to me, so I had to investigate it myself. And it turns out that I do, indeed, fit the description. Scary that doctors wouldn't bother to mention these things! I also believe I probably have hypothyroidism, as I have just about all the classic symptoms, but my tests always come back "normal." So I suppose it's not surprising that my lyme tests still come back negative? lol! My research shows that's pretty common in many cases where patients have hypothyroidism, but I still can't get a doctor to do a trial treatment! I've also had GERD and IBS for some time now, almost everything relates (for me) back to when I had the horrible flu in 1994, and it's all rather gradual as to WHEN exactly things happened. The last 10 to 12 years have been rough--that's probably about when the GERD and IBS really got bad. I've had IBS probably all my life, but the GERD has been around about as long as the Lyme. LOL--fun times! I also have had esophageal stenosis, a complication that can arise from GERD. More fun! Having been sick that long can be distressing to some, but I try to keep myself as upbeat as possible. I also suffer from migraines (have had them since I was 8 years old, so about 30 years now--EEEK!), asthma for about 18 years--yeah, relates back to the Lyme, allergies, TMJ for several years (another thing that got put in my medical records without my being told!), and chronic pain issues, so I guess to me, it's fairly normal! LOL I was just diagnosed with IC and OAB a couple years ago, which makes a lot of sense. I had been suffering symptoms for about 6 months or more, and I finally got a referral to a great urologist. No one had ever put any of my symptoms together, despite my complaints. But still, I'm pretty upbeat and try to be very positive in my posts. I am a fan of natural and alternative treatments. I still take several conventional meds, and I recognize that they have their place, but I am open to natural methods that might replace any conventionals I'm taking. My mind's open, but I lean toward the natural way, as that is what I've been most successful with. I'm also a Usui Reiki Master and a Karuna Reiki (R) Master. I'm also Wiccan and consider myself extremely spiritual, rather than religious. I LOVE MDJ and am SO grateful that it's come into my life! I also have a lot of resources on green cleaning, am changing over all my cleaning stuff to green/non-toxic products, AND I have a lot of herbal resources I've been using as well! I can't wait to see what you guys have and to share my own info with you. I welcome PM's and any suggestions anyone has to help me feel good on a day to day basis. Goddess knows I could use it! *hugs* all around. Here's hoping we can all feel great! Jen P.S. Since there's no place to put it, I'm on Twitter--look me up if you want. My username is @fluffyluggage. I also have a FB account--feel free to ask me about it. If you live in the Atlanta, GA, area and want to learn more about paranormal investigation, let me know. I run a team of investigators, and we're always looking for new members and cases. **Note that my livejournal account is friends-locked, so if you want to get in, I request a PM--either here or there is fine. If you want me to follow you back on Twitter, let me know who you are by sending me a PM here or a DM there. :) |
