| A little about me: | I was diagnosed bipolar and depressed last year, but have been bipolar and depressed since I was 12. At that time, my four best friends decided they hated me and kicked off the lunch table, wrote nasty notes, and stole CDs from my locker. Very traumatizing for a 12 year old. I stopped caring about school, and focused on making friends. But because I wanted new friends so bad, it showed and I came off clingy and annoying to a lot of people. I started cutting myself at 14 and taking large amounts of tylenol and aleve, wishind I'd die, but ending up puking for a day or two. I started drinking at 15, I drank in school, after school, weekends - whenever I could get some. I thought if I drink maybe people will think I'm cool and want to be friends, but surprisingly only my close friends joined the drinking. Everyone else called me an alcoholic and just depressed me even more. I've never felt accepted or wanted that I can remember. I hadHORRIBLE relationship problems with all my past boyfriends, and my current boyfriend is putting up with me for now, but who knows how long that'll last...I thought once I started the medication, everything would be different. But I'm still gonna be me... I have started reading up on bipolar and have learned a lot about the way I act. It's really amazing reading the symptoms and seeing how much of what I do is bipolar. I feel so much better informed after reading "Take charge of bipolar disorder : a 4-step plan for you and your loved ones to manage the illness and create lasting stability " by Julie Fast. I highly recommend this book to the newly diagnosed. I will list more books as I read them. |
