| A little about me: | I'm 18 years old, recently diagnosed with late stage Lyme disease. My mom has figured out I must have been infected when I was four years old which is backed by a memory of a tick bite and with in a year showing symptoms (just no noticed rash). I am unable to work now or attend school and have had to file for disability. I've spent my whole life as long as I can remember with constant headaches and frequent aches and pains (some times crippling pain when I would have to crawl), constant fevers, dizziness, fainting and just feeling something wasn't right. More recently I had kidney disease with six months of kidney infection and emergency room visits. In Dec 2007 I went from the constant headaches to constant migraines (no break in them even with meds). I was then sent to a neurologist with an MRI showing black spots on my brain and suggested I might have Lyme. In April 2008 I tested positive and began treatment with doxycycline. By this time I had no reflexes, the right side of my body was entirely numb and by the beginning of May had Bell's palsy with the right side of my face paralyzed and deafness in my left ear. In May I began daily infusions through a picc line of 2 grams of rocephin. A month later most of my symptoms were gone. I still have (from the Lyme) some brain damage causing Alzheimer's like symptoms of memory loss and loss of concentration and dyslexia. Also Bipolar schizophrenia and OCD. I've been told I'm now Lyme free but the damage to my brain is permanent. |
