MDJunction - People Helping People

MDJunction to me

Macv"For me, MDjunction has been a place where I can share my experiences
living with the very rare bone disease called Ollier's ( Enchondromatosis ) with the parents of children recently diagnosed. I can help them not to run
into the pitfalls my parents did when I was young, give them a bit of a view
from their child's perspective and simply be there to offer support and
hope to people who are scared and just had their lives upended. I also belong to a chronic pain group and it's been a Godsend to be able to actually
talk with others who understand what I'm dealing with. Besides them helping me through my tough times, I can be there to help them as well. Here too, I can use my years of experience to help others avoid pitfalls and it makes me feel good, gives my life more purpose. MDjunction brings people
together when their suffering, at their darkest and feeling alone in this world and allows some light to be brought back into their lives. HOPE, that's what
MDjunction means to me!

A little about me: Ciao! My name is Debbie and I've lived in chronic pain in my lower back and extremities for over 12 years since my car accident.Tests have come back neg.and the only thing that has helped in the past and present AT ALL is the narcotics. This year I put the cherry on the Sundae when I tripped in an armadillo hole and broke my foot in a bizarre way called a Lisfranc fracture. It's very rare, very serious and takes up to a year or more to heal.Since mine was not diagnosed until recently the only surgery they can do is a bone fusion. If anyone has experience with this PLEASE PM me!I have been married a little over 3yrs to my wonderful husband who is a professional opera singer. He is also handicapped with Parkinson's disease. I have 1 living biological child,21 going on 12 as he is dual diagnosed with dev.disabilities and bipolar disorder. He also suffered a serious bout of child hood cancer at 13 so he is lucky to be here! I have 2 stepdaughters although the youngest even though she is 31 is like my own!Well, enough about me, I want to hear your story, the meds you're taking, what works for you and so on.Have a painfree day!

"My son was diagnosed with AML when he was only thirteen. I lived at the childrens hospital for over a year taking care of him as he suffered every complication you can think of enduring many surgeries two which were life threatening but he beat the odds and pulled through! He is now 21 and permanently disabled, but thank God he;s here!SO many of are friends were not so fortunate."
