| A little about me: | Diagnosed with bipolar II disorder in 2000 I fought hard for six years to regain my good mental health. I have been stabilized and high functioning for close to two years. This disease cost me dearly. I lost my spouse of 20 years and custody of my precious children. My relationship with the kids is positive and they are the joy of my life. We have endured and overcome much together. I am very pleased with my recovery but I am isolated and very lonely. I want to work but I have legal problems related to a psychotic episode which resulted in a house fire where I was a renter. I now have a felony conviction for arson, because there was no mental health court system and I needed treatment not prison time. I would like to work in peer support and have had some interviews but no job offers. I have not been active in the mental health advocacy community but I really want to get involved. |
