Hi
How are you doing today?
I wondered how you are going to handle his interest in moving out? What are your thoughts on that? My son at the moment is OK at home, but his 22 year old sister just moved back and he now talks about moving out. Scarey!!! Have a great day....

Hi,
We have a wonderful boy in common. Mine at this time is 25. He is currently at a city college, but he still hasn't made any friends. We currently moved our of his home town about 3 years ago and it has been a struggle to start over. He is high functioning in the autism spectrum. He communicates, it takes him a long time to respond to a conversation, he likes to be alone in his room with his computer. We always sit down to dinner together, but he would much rather after he is done be off to his room. He is really good at the computer. He is our computer technician. I am older than you are, turning 50 this year. My son was diagnosed at 16. He was misdiagnosed with ADD. Looking back now I understand that if I would of known sooner, I could of understood sooner and maybe helped more, but I have done my best. He is happy, school part-time and wants to work, but I know it will be very hard for him. He has compulsive behaviors, everything neat and orderly, doesn't like to get dirty, spot on his clothes will drive him crazy, until he shows me where it is and I wash them. He will help anyone with anything they ask. His disability definitely shows up in the social area. He stands out in a group of people, his mannerisms and his responses. My struggle is to find social areas for him, he doesn't like the programs that are set up for the disabled. He doesn't believe that he is disabled. Bye for now...Would love to chat!
