| A little about me: | I was diagnosed with bipolar II recently. My psychiatrist says that I have "atypical" bipolar disorder which is basically severe bipolar II, but my highs aren't quite high enough to be classified as bipolar I. I will be 40 in a few weeks and I've been on medication for depression for about 15 years. The hypomania only started to become a problem in my everyday life over the past year and I decided I finally needed to bring it to my psychiatrist's attention. Right now I'm feeling pretty good. I now take additional meds and the hypomania is well controlled and the feelings of detachment and sadness are less frequent. So far, so good. However, I seem to feel like something is missing without the hypomania. Yet each day is a surprise because you just never know what mood you're going to have waiting for you when you wake up. |
