To Take Flight

Here I am up so high
Again, flying through the sky
Off to a land far away
Where the sun shines everyday
All alone in the night
Awaiting morning’s light

How I never knew
These things could be true
Once afraid of being known
Now afraid to be my own
Only I know the truths
From the top to the roots

I thought they were only dreams
For me to wake in screams
Night after night I prayed
Not to be woken scared
Sleepless nights spent in tears
Awaiting my worst fears

My only hope in dawn’s light
So I must take to flight
To a place a world away
Where there is no price to pay
Where everyone is a friend
And will stay until the end
