| A little about me: | Hee Hee *tried to clean this up - spell check etc..- thank God for spell check --- I am 46 yrs old. Bar NONE the worst typist. (Nerve damage fingers). I have very active, severe Chronic Myofascial pain, underlying sciatica feeling from Piriformis muscle and TMJ. I started seeking medical treatment in 2000, by 2004 thought my life was over. It has been a long road but I am not alone on the road, and I am not at the end of it yet but willing to believe that "more will be revealed" to me at another turn. It has been some Uphill and some Downhill -- peaks and valleys, enough that if mapped out in a grid it is improving in big picture. I struggle to remember this in the downhill mode. I am blessed with a great, wonderful husband who is also my best friend. And we are both self employed so he goes w/me to all my appt's, treatments -- i am so lucky. I live in suburbs/large city , no kids and 17 years sober. I used to have much more active life, opened up my own biz in 1999, I am a marketing specialist with a focus on Non-Profits. I am skinny bordering on ill-looking but eat like a horse! I love to cook and when I can it reminds me of what I DO enjoy. I LOVE what I do for a living BUT --- I am not the superstar I thought I would be -- I have to think every single project thru and carefully schedule lower volume activity. I think success is relative and I do believe if you love what you do and do it in service to God and others - success follows. I am grateful for all that I have and even on the worst days - I can usually find at least ONE thing to be grateful for. If I have to have this pain or disorder, then I thank God for what He has put in my life to help me get thru it. I get discouraged (scared) sometimes (ok often)about my future. I have worked very hard to build a business and sometimes I just feel that I can't run it. We have spent a lot, almost all of our savings --on my treatment that was not covered. But !!! I didn't make it this far to be dropped on my ass - so I hope I can stay in palm of God's hand. My staff is incredible so that helps a lot and it is a happy crew Mon-Fri. Even now, when I just wear sweats. I used to wear suits. So -- I changed the dress code :-) I do miss feeling well, and active and attractive. Not that I ever was cover girl.... I have 3 cats I adore and 8 fish that manage to stay alive without being fed often. I used to love to travel. I still do when I can just VERY low key. I used to love to drive fast, BUT I still do when I can :-) I have Ford T-Bird (but husband gets to drive 99% of the time) No matter how bad it gets - the simple fact is that IF life were fair -- I’d be dead. My drinking almost killed me at 29 yrs old. I am glad to be alive and glad to be here. If I could ever give back a FRACTION of what has been given to me so freely by others -personally and professionally - I would consider that a life well lived. I will NOT make this pain define WHO I am. I may not be who I used to be, and I sure as hell don't always like who I am every day...BUT it is what it is... and better or worse, I guess I better like who I am most days -- Wherever you go - there you are! |
