MDJunction to me

sarahtroy"There's a special place in my heart for MDJ's Bipolars dealing with Alcoholism support group. As an alcoholic in recovery, it is my safe harbor. I draw strength and hope from our Bipolar alcoholics and addicts who bravely share their experiences and courageously face our common demons. This is a special, close and safe group to explore any alcohol or drug issues. I have made many dear friends and been sustained by the love and acceptance so freely offered." (sarahtroy)

A little about me: My name is Jennifer. I began having crohn's symptoms when I was about 12 years old. My Dr was convinced it was IBS and she kept shoving fiber down my throat and It did nothing but get worse. Finally after 7 visits to her office with compaints of losing weight (17lbs in 4 weeks) and abominal pain that left me on the floor and in tears she sent me to a GI Dr. Within a week (after upper GI, colonsocopy, blood work and CT scans, and a visit with a surgeon) he had me on a road to recovery and gaining weight. I was holding together fairly well unil I was 19 and finishing up nursing school. My second flare hit that fall and it almost pulled me out of school. Somehow i struggled and worked with the Drs appts and school work and was diagnosed with Crohns Disease (that's pretty devistating for a 19year old). Since then I've been relatively well. In 2009 my husand and I decided to start trying to have a baby, everything seemed okay then. After several months of trying we finally got pregnant. By my third trimester my crohn's reappeared and was ready to fight! I was 129lbs when i got pregnant and toward the end of my pregnancy I was 106. My baby was measuring very small so they decided to take him a little early... thinking he'd be better off outside than inside. I gave birth to a healthy 5lb 9oz little boy in Feb of 2011. From there it's gone down hill... When he was 3 weeks old I went into a cramp one night that wouldnt go away (even after pain medication) so I called my DR and ended up in the ER. I expected pain medication and a long night and to be sent home home but they came back after my CT scan and said i had a terrible UTI and abcesses in my intestines and I would be staying for a week. I would also be recieving 2 units of blood. I was devistated considering I had a 3 week old baby at home. They ran antibotics and very high doses of steriods along with other meds around the clock for 5 days. I was then sent home on Crohn's medications and steriods. Since then I've had 3 CT scans and blood work far too many times to count and now I have just begun Cimzia injections. I am in the middle of my "loading" doses right now but I already feel much much better. I hope this site helps me realize I'm not doing this alone and that there are many of us who can help each other!
