MDJunction to me

aTinaL"To me, Mdjunction comes down to motivation. The support and information I have found here motivated me to take a very proactive stance regarding my illness. This led me to find medication and doctors that are giving me my life back.
More important than even the motivation, though, is the friendship I have found at MDJ. I have made some of the best friends of my entire life right here in this group. Even though most of us have never met, it feels as if we have known each other for years.
If Angels walk among us, and I believe that they do, most of them are here at MDJ.

A little about me: My father was a doctor, so I grew up as a doctor's daughter. He has been deceased for almost 20 years.

I think this is important background because of what I'm about to say. My intention is not to disrespect the medical profession. However, over the last 10 years, I have gone to so many doctors/specialists who I respected as leaders in their field, trying to figure out why I DON'T FEEL GOOD, and they've failed me.

I have learned that Medical professionals cannot be trusted without major effort and due diligence on my part. Last I checked, I'm STILL sick thanks to their ignorance, and why should they care? They are STILL making BIG BUCKS because of all the other poor souls looking to them for help.

Thank God for my local integrative Internal Medicine doc who listened to my history and tested me for Lyme. As of December of 2011 LabCorp, I'm CDC Positive.

The responsibility for my health and my well-being rests with ME. No longer will I put my faith in someone just because they have an M.D. after their name.

To be sure, there will be MDs on my "TEAM", but they won't be given any more credence than the others just because they can write an Rx.

Today's physicians...Those who stand back and watch people suffer, when they know something is wrong but refuse to treat, are just as much at fault as authors of the IDSA Guidelines; they become accomplices by default.

The reason our families and friends doubt chronic Lyme is because of this bs controversy created from ignorance or malpractice or both. Lack of info causes fear.

If your head is in the sand, and you are oblivious, then I feel sorry for you. If you put your head in the sand, and chose to stay there when others have disproven your theories, that's prideful and cowardly.

If you are unsure about your seronegative Lyme test, or even unsure about your positive Lyme results, this board will teach you so much.

Once you start your treatment, doxycycline or naturopathic, if all your little symptoms start coming out the woodworks... Ding, ding, ding. Validation ala Herxeimer.
