| A little about me: | In 2009, at the age of 51, I started having problems chewing. In the 8 months it took to diagnose as MG, my only symptom was weakness in the jaw. Then, while on the standard 4x60mg of mestinon, my symptoms became worse to include a droopy eye and difficulty talking. One morning I woke up and couldn't swallow my meds. 10 days and 5 IVIG treatments later, I was released from the University of Washington Hospital. Since Sept. 2010, I have gone from 80mg/day of prednisone to none and even went off mestinon. Then in early 2012 I relapsed a bit and went back on mestinon/prednisone and added Imuran. My symptoms have been well controlled with no jaw weakness and are limited to general fatigue and vision difficulty. I count myself lucky everyday that I am beating MG. My wife and I participate in the Northwest Chapter of the MGFA Support Group. I'm not much of a blogger but I will try to check this site often and help/advise if I can. |
