| A little about me: | I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia last year in March (oh wow! a year.....) after falling ill and being hospitalized. I had had the symptoms for about 8 months before that, had actually been told by an ER doctor that I worked with that he really felt I should have a full work up for Fibromyalgia, but NO, NOT ME, I had every excuse to explain my symptoms away....... As a registered nurse, Fibromyalgia was not something that I understood, nor something I could ever have anyway........ I already suffered from migraines, interstitial cystitis, GERD, and vertigo. I did not have time for the aches and pains, the numbness, the electric tingling, and the fatigue that began haunting my body. I fell ill at the end of January of 2007. I was put in the hospital February 7th. Test after test could not explain what was happening to me. My body was riddled with pain. I was so weak that I could barely walk. My spleen was enlarged and my liver enzymes were elevated. After a week, the doctors sent me home. My lab values improved, my spleen returned to its normal size. But the weakness and the pain continued..... Worse than it had ever been. There was no denying the diagnosis when it finally came. My life has been turned upside down since then. |
