| A little about me: | I am 53 yrs old Black-African America who has Sjogrens Syndrome and who has live with it for about 10 yrs unknown to me and my family. The last three yrs has been the hardest cause I became disable an unable to work now living on my retirement is a bomber. I Never knew that Sjogrens was around until after I got it and had no support to teach me about what I had. The doctors that I was going to in Atlanta,Ga where I live never had to treat some one with Sjogrens so I kind of was there basket case. In 2008 I had to get an feeding tude that would be there for the rest of my life cause I couldn't eat or drink anything by mouth. Now three years later I still have that feeding tude but I am doing a little better by taking charge of my life. Now I tell my doctor about Sjogrens an if they don't know where to get info then I show them cause this my life an not theirs! |

"I wear this ribbon very proudly one to be an American! An Cause I live with Sjogren's everyday of my life so I know what it's like to feel the way you do. Having Sjogren's is very hard on you cause mostly this sometime that a female would have; there are very few male that have Sjogren's Syndrome. And the few males that has this chronic autoimmune inflammatory disease that destorys our moisture glands I know what you are going thru.
Having the symptons of dry mouth an eyes dysfunctuion of other organs with High blood pressure and diabetes and gastrointestinal system problems like eating and just drink plain old water. Yes water there are times that I can't drink anything for days on end; not knowing almost killed me about three yrs ago when I was put in the hospital cause my weight had fallen off so much that I almost die; so my doctor decide that I would need a feeding-tude for the rest of my life so I could get food and fuilds in when my Sjogren's acts up. This is why I wear the ribbon for all THOSE of US that have SJOGREN'S don't give up the fight to Educate YOURSELF learn all there is and HELP your FELLOW SJOGREN'S BROTHER or SISTER that suffer with it! This is why I believe that I wear this RIBBON VERY PROUDLY!" |

The only break in life you are going to get is the one when you get off your fat behind and start doing things for your self Mental illnesses doesn't have to hurt it acn be cure with the right med's and support that is why I wear this ribbon!" |
