| A little about me: | I was diagnosed in September 2010 with occipital neuralgia after the onset of extreme head pain that started out of nowhere in July. For nearly 2 months, I was in and out of ER because of the pain. I had a MRI in August which came out good, however I still needed to still see a neurologist to determine the cause of the headaches. Long story short, diagnosis of O.N. and was referred to pain management. In September, had 1st nerve block and one week later had 2nd nerve block. For me, the nerve blocks helped the pain tremendously. These last 2 months have been great! I would still get head pain some days, but nothing compared to what I was feeling before the nerve blocks. I am taking life one day at a time, because I never know what each day holds for me. Will it be a good day where I feel like my old self before this terribly painful condition? Or, will it be a bad one where I can barely function? I envy people who don't have to walk around with head pain most of the time like I do. It takes a lot for me not fall into a dark place from depression because I really miss my old life when I didn't have to be in pain so much. |
