About Awareness Ribbons

A little about me: I'm 34 year old male and i was diagnosed with Crohn's in 1993 after several tests and procedures to see why I was becoming ill with severe stomach cramps, diahrea (sp),etc.

Every since i was diagnosed it's been a long road dealing with the crohn's. I've been on Prednisone since i was diagnosed which helped me when i had bad flares along with other meds like Ascocol, Pentasa and even remicade infusions.

I had my different times were i was in the hospital over the years because i was having the bad flares and then in 2005 I had to have a bowel resection because i developed strictures in my bowel that was causing severe pain.I did ok for a while with the medication i was on which was 6-MP (Mercapturine)(sp) then was taken off the prednisone(been on it to long!) about around the middle of 2006 and just remained on the 6-MP up until now.

I started to have symptoms return around the middle of 2007 which consisted of weight loss, diarreah (sp) cramping, etc,so the doc decided to do a colonoscopy and saw that my disease was becoming active again. So my doc decided to up the dosage of 6 mp that i was on at the time which was 75 mgs to 100 mgs which is what i am on right now. So at this point my symptoms are are not getting worse, but they are not getting any better, so i guess the medicine is doing just enough to keep me stabalized at this point. My doc had mentioned that i might have to start the remicaide infusions again as well as the dose of the 6 mp that i am currently on now... So i just have to see how this goes. Sorry for the long intro, I am just trying to summarize my experience with crohn's to let you guys know a little about my experience.

Thanks. It is so difficult, but I keep going. I have a son who just had his second baby. I can't go right now, and that's a bit hard, but I'll see him and his wife and the new one soon...I hope. Thanks again.

Hi Drobryant Iam in touch to the same symotomp. My heart goes out to you. For 13years I had sever stomache problems howevr with all th ER visit the morphine was a great relief. After numerous IBS diagnosis and diets I was finally hospilized the end of Feb. due to pain severe runny BM which had alot of bloody show by the time i was released Iwas diagnosed with our sngry and moody friend Crohn's.
I'm trying my best to live with this but i'm still not stable. My G.I Doc is going to try another approach which i must confess doesn't sound to promising. Howver his back -up is to send me to Harbor UCLA For further treatment and hoefully the Remicade shot.
Oh! by the way my name is Virginia and im 42. Apologizie for not introducing myself sooner. You site caught my attention becaause of your present med Remicade, I was told there are alot of sideefects this being the case would you be so kind to share what they are, It willbe appreciate. Please one more thing and i will end for the night. I have developed a major acne on my face and fester soars around my mouth. My primary DOC is cluesss he thind it might be herpes. Nevrtheless, I showed them to my G.I docter and he says its a sideeffect from the predisone.
What do you think and are you familiar? If so what can iuse or take. Truly it's mosterous to look at. even as a teen I only got one per month and it left with no blemish.
Please get back sooon any suggestion are greatly welcome.
Hopefully we can assist eachother and than spread the news.
What you think? Thanks for taking the time to read my miniature novel. God Bless You!
