MDJunction to me

mabri"When I was diagnosed about 18 months ago with fibromyalgia, I didn't know where to turn. I got on my computer and looked for a support group where I could talk to other people with the same disease and get some help...Information, suggestions, mostly just what I can do now that I have this.....disorder/disease/syndrome...I didn't even know what to call it. I found MDJ, and yes, there was a support group for fibro. I started a post, and figured I would never get an answer. However, very quickly I was welcomed in, and became really involved in the group. I received help, support, friendship and the feeling of being truly cared about by these strangers who had become like family to me. Now, I have been here for about a year and a half...I have become a group leader, and love every minute of it. It is so wonderful to be able to help others. I still receive help and answers from the members in this group. The fibromyalgia is where I go to help, support, listen, care and even laugh. I don't know what I would do without this group." A little about me: A LITTLE bit about me?? Not possible! ROTFLMAO!

But even if it was, I choose not to do a laundry list of disease's, diagnosis's, ailments, my daily pain levels or medications (my apologies to the data collector's!) here. The reason for this is very simple. A friend told me one day a comment her therapist told her and it has resonated between us since, because we took it one step further. My friend was having a hard time and in the course of her session the therapist said, "There is much more to you than a broken heart". This of course led to a discussion of how we see ourselves regarding our respective illnesses, emotional and physical. The frustration of "being" a label and/or a patient number and losing our identities to and because of them blasted through to us. Thus, THERE IS MORE TO ME THAN MY DISEASE(S)!

So, the less focus I give them, the more of me there is to work on. A Catch-22 I admit. It's far easier to be a victim and thus have something to dress up in and hide behind. I have found the discipline of positive thinking and right choices always extremely difficult. I need constant reminding of Recovery and Living in the Solution (not in my head up my @ss). So, I will claim "Chronic Cranial Inversion" as a diagnosis of weakness here, otherwise you will no doubt learn more about me in the groups and on the boards. Otherwise, I look forward to walking with everyone here.

*"Namaste" is a greeting, a Sanskrit word (Hindi). One meaning is ...

"I honor the place in you in which the entire Universe dwells, I honor the place in you which is of Love, of Integrity, of Wisdom and of Peace. When you are in that place in you, and I am in that place in me, we are One."

"We have choices but no options"
~Taken from some cartoon I can not identify it's been so long!

"You gain strength, courage and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You are able to say to yourself, 'I have lived through this horror. I can take the next thing that comes along.' You must do the thing you think you cannot do." ~ Eleanor Roosevelt

a HugYou are special and deserve to be treated as such. Never allow anyone to tell you any different. For if they do, then they do not deserve to know you, much less have the right to call you a friend.

Warning - Contents may contain whining. This should not be confused with grieving losses, but if you can tell them apart, LET ME KNOW!!!

I did change this title from "A New Normal" to this one, The Choice is Mine". I need constant reminders that I can DO and THINK things over DIFFERENTLY. It's a discipline that has been increasingly hard in my "New Normal" - which is subject to change without notice, as we all know too well. The choice is ALWAYS mine. I may post my words or other wiser words that are not mine, so that I can remember choices in thinking and perception are for me to MAKE and cannot afford to forget.
