MDJunction to me

aTinaL"To me, Mdjunction comes down to motivation. The support and information I have found here motivated me to take a very proactive stance regarding my illness. This led me to find medication and doctors that are giving me my life back.
More important than even the motivation, though, is the friendship I have found at MDJ. I have made some of the best friends of my entire life right here in this group. Even though most of us have never met, it feels as if we have known each other for years.
If Angels walk among us, and I believe that they do, most of them are here at MDJ.

A little about me: I am a married 55 yr olf female, mother of 3, one child deceased, grandma of two teen-agers that we absolutely adore to the universe and back.

May of 2010 I was diagnosed with BE (Barrets Esophagus) I have battled GERD from hiatal hernia since 1994. One EGD in 94 that diagnosed ulcers in esophagus and then another EGD in 2009, supposedly no Barretts at that time but I don't think the MD was the greatest. So who knows.

My father passed away from Esopagheal cancer in 2008, I helped take care of him and saw him go through much. So of course being told I have a risk of it now, frightens me to now end, and trying to wrap my head around it and act non-chalant. I got the biopsy report with notification of getting EGD re-done in 5-6 mos and stay on meds. No notice of dsyplasia or anything. So don't know where I stand on that end, no follow-up appts. nothing. Just a re-check within 6 mos. So it doesn't help me with my wondering ya know.

So I am trying to find others who understand.
