MDJunction to me

Cata"MDJ gave me the chance to see that, in reality, I was not alone. It is my refuge. It means true understanding, shared knowledge, and support that is free of judgment. What I have received and given here is more powerful than I ever thought it could be. This place is all about love." (Cata)

A little about me: I am rather simplistic. I enjoy the little things in life, waking up in the mornings, getting a phone call (even though I'm terrified of the phone) or a text, or an email... making someone smile during the day, those things keep me motivated. My brother is my biggest motivation / inspiration of all, he has Autism and he continues to astound me each and every day. He is now 25 and has his drivers license.

As a career, I never wanted to be the person to wipe someones bootie... it just never appealed to me (I don't think it does to anyone in real honesty) plus the whole gag-reflex thing... yeh... so anyway...... somehow the universe had other plans for me, and I am now a caregiver for 3 ID (intellectually disabled) women and I love it. Despite the aggression and the screaming and the entire house is considered high-needs *and* non-verbal... I wouldn't trade it in for the world. I work 40 hours in 10 days and sometimes I've worked as much as 56 hours in 4 days... it's exhausting but so worth it. To see them grow and learn and pick up everyday skills to become more independent through life... amazing. I am also a full time student, last year I received my associates degree in Human Services and now I am slowly working on my bachelors in Human Services...

It's human nature to have emotions, and I am one of those types. I am very emotional and very sensitive. I wear my heart on my sleeve and although that can be my downfall, it's just who I am.

I have a partner that is very similar to me but yet very opposite. She has four kids (three that live with us; 16, 18, 34), it's an odd relationship but it works for us and it's great. We have our ups and downs but as estranged and at each others throats we may get, we always come back together and love each other even more.

I am adopted and my adopted parents and I are getting along better than ever... I also have a 2nd momma who is right here on MDJ and I wouldn't trade her in for the world... how I wish she was my biological momma, but it is what it is and I love her as much as I love brother, partner, kids and life. She is often the glue that holds me together.

I love new friends, but please don't bring drama with you, I will help support anyone and be there at the drop of a hat if you need someone, but my time is just as valuable as everyone else's.. and I rather be supportive and smiling than be wrapped up in drama...

So... welcome to my world...

a HugYou are special and deserve to be treated as such. Never allow anyone to tell you any different. For if they do, then they do not deserve to know you, much less have the right to call you a friend.
