sleepySheri"in august 2008, i accidentally found this site and i love it. i have struggled with narcolepsy since 1993 and to this day i have never met another narcoleptic in person. to share my story and read the stories of others as well as try to help others means the world to me. i want to thank all those who are there to listen to me and to give me advice...." A little about me: i'm a big, fat 58 year old guy who was recently diagnosed with Fibromyalgia, but i realized that i must have had it for years. Three years ago I almost died with a fever of 105.7 which caused the dormant fibromyalgia to surface.
I could check off almost everything on the list of symptoms.
I live with my lover Brian of 11+years.
i was married to a woman for 26 years, have 4 adult sons and 2 grandchildren who i do not see often. brian has 2 sons and was married 14 years to his wife. 3 out of 4 of my sons ostracize me because I am gay. my son Jon got married and I found out on Facebook, I'm still trying to get over that hurt, along with everything else.
I stopped working because i could not handle the pain and side effects anymore. I am also diabetic, suffer from bursitis, arthritis, lymphedema, carpal & ulnar tunnel syndromes and sometimes get depressed, but knowing that it is normal when dealing with FB makes it easier.
I stopped driving last summer due to neuropathy. Instead of braking, I slammed on the gas pedal, no accident but everyone in the car begs me not to drive...it leaves me feeling isolated.
I have a part time home health aide and use a powerchair to walk long distances.
I was a Chef, had to change careers due to carpal tunnel, & worked with Child Protective. I used to be a minister too.
I have good and bad days and bad weather makes it hurt more!
I try to be positive, but get down at times when my body seems to be giving up on me.
I hope to meet some good friends here where we can help each other cope without having pity parties!

Please don't be offended when i read your profile or a blog and give a hug. I appreciate random acts of kindness and enjoy giving hugs to people i don't know. Hey, when i have a bad day, some of you have helped me immensely by a kind word.

If I get inspired by your profile/life/diary I may ask you to be a friend. I appreciate people who have triumphed over difficult situations in their lives.

I also have a wierd sense of humor...
