| A little about me: | I am a 57 year old female diagnosed with RP when I was 23. Progression has been slow with periphery now at 10 degrees. Pretty good central vision at 20/40 & 20/50. Hearing loss at 85 decibals but fairly well corrected with 2 hearing aids. Quit driving in 2007 (one of the hardest things I've had to do was give up driving/independence!) Been through mobility (cane) training; tried Braille but gave it up; got a guide dog from Leader Dog for the Blind in October 2010. She's a yellow lab and her name is Oneesi (O-knee-si) She sure watches out for me and keeps me from falling off curbs & steps! It's nice having another set of eyes 'attached' to me! :) |
