A little about me: I am a mom of 3 young boys, the oldest suffering from a mood disorder of some sort. My son is 9 years old and is currently taking Trileptal and Tenex.

We have experienced violent rages, irritability, anger, physical attacks on both me and my younger sons. My son has violent nightmares that someone is trying to kill him. He sleepwalks, feels anxiety in school and crowds. He is sensitive to sounds, and clothing. He isn't comfortable playing in groups of kids, birthday parties can be painful for him. He has heard voices only once, and has smelled and felt things that aren't there more than once.

Then there are times when he is loving, sweet, kind, helpful, energetic, and just feeling happy.

In the past he has mentioned that he should die, and that he is God's mistake. Once he sat in the street waiting "for a car to run him over". When he was only 7 years old he talked about the bad side of his brain taking over the good side, making him do bad stuff. When in a rage, he says that it makes him feel better to destroy stuff. He has destroyed property many times.

At school he has appeared depressed, yet his behavior is always good. Recently the teacher has noticed that he complains of an upset stomach at least once a week. I believe this is anxiety. As he says after a rage at home "I used all my good up at school".

Not only do his parents think he needs help, but my son has cried out that something is wrong with him and that he needs a doctor to fix him.

So now we are trying meds, and praying.
