A little about me: I'm 57-years-old, married, and have three cats. I was diagnosed with Bipolar
1 Disorder six years ago. I have also suffered from Fibromyalgia since
not long after a whiplash injury in an automobile accident in 1988.

I've gone through many ups-and-downs with both illnesses. My husband has stood by me through it all, for which I am eternally grateful.

Both illnesses are currently managed pretty well -- compared to what I've come through over the years -- so I guess that makes me a survivor. Although, today as I write this, I'm in what I hope is the last day of a Fibro. flare-up that I have felt discouraged about and isolated by.

That's why I joined this group. I was too unwell to attend my live group therapy session today and was looking for an outlet and a way out of where I was emotionally.

I'm especially interested in getting to know others who have both illnesses, but will chat with those who have either/or.

As an update to the preceding: It has been nearly a year now since I discovered this site. MDJ has been a help to me in so many ways. Supporting me when I've been down and in pain. Giving me the opportunity to be supportive to others when I can. And also giving me the chance to laugh along the way. If you're new here, you're in luck because you'll meet plenty of helpful, caring individuals. So stick around!
