| A little about me: | 30-Year-Old Neuroblastoma Survivor -Diagnosed in 1980 at the age of 1 with a tumor wrapped around my spine and aorta. At the time, there was nothing that could be done. Luckily, we lived near Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota and my parents agreed to let me be an experimental treatment. I received multiple surgeries, 16 rounds of radiation, and several years of chemotherapy. I was cured and pronounced cancer-free at the age of 4. -Due to the experimental treatments, I have had a lifetime of secondary effects. I am physically disabled and unable to work, although I have received an undergraduate degree in political science and a graduate degree in business administration. -I am currently writing a book about my MANY medical experiences and issues. It details my life, but I am also hoping that it provides hope and encouragement to others. -Since I am unable to work, I am very willing and eager to provide advice and hope. Also, I am very willing to listen - all of my friends come to me for someone to listen to them and provide advice, if requested. I pride myself on this, and I would love to help!! I feel that part of my purpose in this world is to help others in this way, so please let me fulfill this if you need it!! |
