MDJunction to me

grandmasylvia"MDJ has been "a soft place to fall" for me as Dr Phil says. I have this very painful rare disease Dercum's Disease and take comfort in finding others here who share their knowledge and compassion. Many
members have helped me just by understanding my anguish and validating
my pain. We are working together to encourage research toward a cure.

Written by fibroforever
19 January 2011
Article Date: 11 Jan 2011   The Lupus Foundation of America (LFA) spearheaded a four-year worldwide initiative with more than 120 lupus experts from 11 countries, the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries, and federal agencies, which resulted in the first-ever global definition of a lupus flare. The development of Lupus Foundation of America Flare Definition (LFA-Flare) helps to overcome long-standing barriers to the development of new, safe, and more tolerable treatments for lupus.

Lyme Causing Lupus or Lupus Misdiagnosis
Written by AdieSyndrome
04 April 2009

Still trying to save one person at a time... Best to you all no matter if Lupus primary or not..Lyme can BECOME autoimmune and by then, time is of the essence.

Know that even the best doctors in the world do not know how inaccurate most Lyme tests are... There are only a handful of labs (and doctors) in the country who do the proper testing.

There are over 300 strains of the Lyme Disease bacteria in the world. In North America there are over 100, and the current standard testing only tests against about ten strains, even then, the tests miss 36% of patients , and it is a clinical diagnosis since Lyme DOES attack our immune systems and cause all of these other problems... Many die of another 'cause' when it could have been treated with long term antibioitcs.. Either way, both illnesses are very trying to deal with and I wish you all the best.   Definite Lyme disease instead of lupus:
Nancy Brown lbrown@snowcrest.net Weaverville, northern CA "Following a long-standing, untreated chronic borreliosis, I, too, eventually developed anti DS-DNA antibodies and a positive ANA, along with other markers for Lupus. However, the late Paul Lavoie had numerous patients with similar laboratory results, all of which returned to normal or significantly improved with long-term antibiotic therapy. He firmly believed that in some people, the Lupus or Lupus-type syndrome was a reaction to the underlying Lyme disease infection. By treating the Lyme disease infection, the auto-immune attack often backs off. In fact, he had numerous patients in which that exact thing happened as a result of long-term antibiotic therapy.
