I began having these symptoms when my husband was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer 20 months ago. When he passed away, I spent the next year in estate turmoil with fighting with his family over things, unloading a serial shopper and organized hoarder's effects, and wondering where in the world I was going to live.

I am now in a much better place though still living with some of the unknowns with the estate. I have a boyfriend that has been very patient with me. I have never, ever had an issue with vaginal intercourse. Now, I about go through the ceiling when we attempt anything.

I have an appointment to see my family doctor in a few weeks about other health issues. This one will certainly be one that I will discuss with her. Should I be seeing a gynecologist instead? Does insurance cover any of the treatments? So many questions!

I appreciate any help you may offer! Thanks!

Hey RG. Glad to see you reaching out for help.

I would recommend seeing a Gyn. Insurance will cover a visit, etc. but usually not treatment. The most affordable thing I have found, that does work with patience, is the book set from www.vaginismus.com but that's if it's vaginismus.

Depending on your symptoms there could be other things going on. If you do not currently have an gyn. if suggest calling around and finding one that specializes in

vaginismus or vulvodynia or other sexual health issues.

I am not a physcologist but I am thinking your body could be responding to a new relationship after a traumatic year or two in working through the situation with your husband. Healing can take so long...even when you feel like your doing great, the body expresses things differently. I am SO glad your boyfriend is patient. His attitude towards it all will be what keeps things alive while you figure out what's going on.

Best of luck to you!! PM me or post more questions any time. If you want to send me your specific symptoms I can give you a more educuated guess about what's going on.

Thank you Faith. I appreciate your information and guidance. Are there any online resources for good gynecologists? I live in small town and imagine I will have to travel to a larger city/town to find one that I am comfortable with.

I am truly blessed. My boyfriend has been amazing. I can imagine this would so frustrating for some men to deal with.

Thanks again.

I don't know if there are any good resources. I guess I would just google sexual health gyns in the largest city/cities near you and see what you get.

You may have to visit more than one...or ask for info on their practice...anything to help you become more comfortable with them mentally before you meet them physically.
