Hi all. I hope it's ok to post this here, just i wondered if anyone else here had any advice on this topic. As i posted in a previous post, i'm in therapy at the moment, and am aloud to start using dilators now, so decided to try for the first time last night. I was able to get the first dilator, which is about the thickness of a tampon, maybe a little thicker, all the way into my vagina, by pushing out with my muscles, and when the dilator was in, i also done this, so i could feel the muscles push against it. I'm just wondering, is it ok that i done what i did with my muscles in order for the dilator to go in, or is this not good?

Advice appreciated,

Thanks Unsure

Hi! First, it is completely appropriate for you to post this here!!! That is what this group is about. If it's too much info for someone they don't have to read it Smile

I think that it doesn't matter how you got the dilator in...it's just AWESOME that you DID get it in! As you take your time with this first dilator your body will adjust and the muscles will not try to push it out.

Just take your time and follow your P.T.'s instructions. One thing with the vaginismus is that the muscles are SO tight they don't even know how to relax. I would recommend, after a while, just letting the dilator "sit" there and concentrate on relaxing those pc muscles while it's there. Eventually, it may fall out because of the relaxing as opposed to it falling out because it's being pushed out.

Ask any question, any time!!! You are making great progress! Congratulations!!

Hi.

Thanks so much for your positive response. I will continue posting updates on how i get on here with the dilators, so that maybe it will give others encouragement. I decided to do some more work with the dilators tonight also, and this time, was even better than the time before. I had to push out with my muscles the first time to get the dilator in, but then every time after this, there was no need, i did take the dilator out, and reinsert it a few times, and i was also able to move it in and out while it was inside comfortably. . it feels amazing that this is happening so easily after only one night, and it's amazing to me to be able to do this, and to have control, even if only a little, of my body and what is happening to it, and this gives me hope for the future. my partner was also with me both times while i was using the dilators, and this is comfort to me also, it wouldn't be for everyone, but it's really helping me.

I will post again when i have more updates.
