OK ,now there has to be someone besides me that is incontinent!!!! What a sorry mess we are in. And it's not because I haven't tried every trick the docs tell you about, to, "TIGHTEN THOSE DAMNED MUSCLES"!!!! The funky, squeeze your butt cheeks together, exercise, (big joke....could do that til hell freezes over and still pee when I laugh!!) lol And oh yea all those scietific pills they have out....lololol, another joke, (however it did dry out my whole tracheal and esophageal areas so at least I had no spit to drool if I died.)

But above all..........drum roll............the Bladder Suspension" Surgery!!!! No such hell ever existed to beat that bad boy!!!!!!!I have never experienced such pain and agony!!! When I woke up after surgery, I had this pain in my lower front abdomen that just wouldn't stop!! I mean PAIN!!! Like cramps (bad ones). Little did I know (and they never told me) that a "superpubic catheter" would be put into place during surgery so that the bladder could heal.) What it is, is a tube from the kidney to the bladder, and to the outside of the body through the lower abdomen and then connnected to a bag, so the urine runs straight out with out interferring with the urethra (pee tube). That pain persisted for the entire 10 days I was in the hospital, until they removed it. I must say, the surgery was just wonderful........for a few weeks!!!! At that point I started to maybe have just the slightest tinkle when I laughed. Then after about 6 months, it got to be maybe a dropperful. 9 months 1/4 cup. Year CUP! Now it's just all if there is no toilet beside me... So everytime I see a bathroom I TRY!!! lol The really ridiculous part is in metal detecters. You see, they stapled my bladder to my spine, so it wouldn't fall again and cause the incontinence. OH MY!!!!!!!!! Anybody know of a better way???

Love

Gloria

Thank you, Gloria, for your honest assessment of "Bladder Suspension Surgery". I've never gotten anyone to speak freely about it. I did know a woman from my church who had it done, but she never said much about it, and I tried not to pry too much. The only thing I think she ever said about it was that it wasn't what it was cracked up to be. I think my grandmother had some "work done" back in the "dark ages" of the 70's, but those things were never spoken of... especially to kids, which I was at the time.

I had a girlfriend who had one of those electronic implants in her bladder (like a pacemaker) to try to help her regain urinary control. I'm here to tell EVERYONE -- DON'T DO IT!!! It did not work for her, and as we came to find out later, didn't work for many of the people who tried it. She ended up with endless infections and poor healing (due to diabetes). It was a horrible surgery. A MAJOR cost for negligible results.
