Hey everyone. my husband and I are currently trying to concieve have been for several years now. I have PCOS which I think is the only reason I havent gotten as far as getting pregnant. I recently got told I have a cyst on my left ovary. They arnt treating it and I honestly am too scared to know what they would do to me to fix it. My sister told me to go see my OBGYN but I am avoiding it. I had taken Clomid for months and it never worked. I am kinda at a loss. Any advice?Dizzy Ermm

Hello dear and welcome to the site , I like you have POCS and some other issues just as low progestrone and I had a bicornet uterus but had surgery to fix that two weeks ago.

As far as fixing the Cyst those are VERY common when I had my lap/setpum removal she (My OCool popped 12 on the left and 5 on the right it was a VERY easy surgery and they dont even recomend surgery to fix them unless they are HUGE like bigger than the ovary itself

Has your doctor put you on anything for your POCS like Metformin?

Do you know if you are ovulating? Do you chart your temps using a bbt or use OPK to watch for your LH surge?

I have heard that it is hard for women with PCOS to chart their ovulation using OPK or even temping. Has anyone hear the same thing or had their doctors tell them that?

Temping isnt hard for POCS I am a GL in another support group online with over 1000 members and we have TONS of POCS ladies there that chart, opk, take meds, have had surgery and everything in between

I suggest the book "Taking Charge of mine Fertility" it is WONDERFUL for any women hell it should be required reading for any women I think.

OPK CAN be harder for women with bad pocs cause it can either show a Lh surge all the time or never pick it up

There is a cheap way to see there are dip sticks called Wondfo OPK on Amazon.com from the Seller Formosa Medical (dont get them from anyone else they are rip offs) you can get likr 40-50 for 8 buck this will last a full cycle IF you test EVERYDAY like I did they also sale HPT that are 10mli and are the earliest detection ones out there

Wow I think I officially know nothing about PCOS. I have been on Metformin they took me off it when I got too high up they started me on Glyberide but since I had Gastric Bypass my dr (the surgeon who did my GBS) said not to take it unless I need it, I check my sugars regularly but I know nothing about what you all are talkin about. I didnt know nothing about checking temps etc. I dont know if I am ovulating I have been getting regular periods thankfully but me and the hubby have been trying for a baby and never got as far as a positive pg test. Can anyone help me with what I need to do, and where I can understand all the abbreviations

I can share my experience with you. As far as Metformin, my sugars are ok, but what Metformin does for me is amazing. I was able to loose over 60lbs in about 6 months time. Also from my research the metformin helps regulate the insulin which in turn really helps with regulating your hormones. One thing I didn't realize until recently is that you can have a period and not ovulate. All of my other doctors made it sound like as long as you were having a period you were ovulating. Not the case at all. There is lots of information and charts out on the internet to help with temping. There is a website called babyhopes.com it has everything you need, you can also order ovulation prediction kits (opk's) really cheap. As far as the abbreviations if you find that out would you let me know. I have figured out a few just from putting things together, but half the time I have no idea what peopel are saying either. Good Luck I wish you all the best.

You make a VERY good pont Melba many women dont Ovulate that is why it is SO important for us to understand and know our own bodies cause if we dont who will right?

Temping and charting are the only REAL ways of knowing if you are Oing or when or how long your Lp is or anything along those lines, even if NOT ttc these are basic things every women should know in there lives i know I will for SURE teach my DD (dear daughter) how to do them to let her KNOW her..

Just remember ladies OPK do NOT show you if you Ovulate they show a LH surge that you MAY be Oing soon!!

I have been given Metformin as well but and STRESSED over possible side effects , I like you need to lose weight about 40lbs and they say this will help I am REALLY thinking if I dont get my BFP this month I will start it next month!!

One thing to ask your doctors about metformin, my doctor said I would need to stay on it when I got pregnant because, if I didn't it could cause me to miscarry. No other doctor had ever told me that before. Makes me wonder if that is why I lost the one I did.

Thats the only reason I dont want to take Metformin I will NOT take a pill when I get prego even ones they say are "safe" because hell tons of pills where "safe" for babies years ago now found to be what CAUSED the child to have downs or other illnesses NO THANKS I will take my chances without the meds lol

I can understand your thought process, but unfortunately for me Metformin is a must. Nothing works right without it, so I will have to take me chances.
