It is truly incredible to be able to share good times and not so good times with others who face the same health challenges. And MDJ has support groups for every condition I have. I don't know of anywhere else that can offer that. I love that I can learn from others as well as offer my own experiences for others to learn from." (jaguarandcubs)

Hi!

I have been suffering with trigeminal neuralgia for over 20 years. It is chronic as I have exhausted all treatments. Wonder how other people deal with this and how it affects their lives. Also have chronic knee pain after a TKR. Looking for someone to talk too.

Really down in the dumps.

Dear sumerset:

I am sorry that you have been suffering for so long. I know that traditional medicine cannot offer us much, just meds to try to take the edge off the pain, and then eventually we become immune to them, with the condition worsening. the condition worsens probably because the coating of the nerves become more and more worn down and inflamed over time. I am on Trileptal because my doctor says you can have up to 2400 mg, if you need it, and it doesn't have the side effects that Tegretol has. Ask your doctor about this.

Also I am trying a homeopathic remedy that is supposed to repair the myelin sheath (the nerve coating that has been irritated, worn down and inflamed) and is supposed to help alot. All I know is if I don't need additional pain meds by the end of this month and can keep my symptoms down, then maybe this homeopathic remedy is helping. My doctor says it can't hurt.
