Hi, everyone. I just joined this group. I keep cutting my hair every day, and I canīt seem to stop doing it. It is very short, and I donīt like it. I want to let it grow, but I canīt. It is very frustrating! How are you all doing?

badhaircut,

I think u will find better support on the Chronic OCD haircutting forum under the OCD disorders. Haircutting isn't really considered Trich. There r several of us who r on the other forum & really give each other much needed support. We would welcome u there.

Blessings,

Debra

Hi badhaircut. I am one of those from the other group. I'll see you there too. Just to let you know you are not alone. I haven't had many no cut days, but have cut back (no pun intended) on frequency and duration. Right now having the kids home on summer vacation is keeping my stress level up, so things are a little harder. But still I am down to maybe 5 min a day vs seven hours a day, which is what it was before joining the other group.

I am not a health care professional. Having lived with MS for many years, I have tried many things; some worked, some didn't. Anything and/or everything I might say is truly only my experience and opinion. Anything new you try, please run it by your doctor.

I think the best thing to do is to keep any sharp objects away so the impulse can't easily be relieved.

I have a milder form of it, but it is annoying when I do pull hairs out of my body, even when I am not aware.

All I can provide help with is to try and revert back into pulling your hair rather then cutting it. I know it's still a form of Trichotillomania but if you can revert back to pulling instead of cutting it may benefit your health and fears of being bald.

Hope this helps. Smile

Talk to me about anything, but please don't expect me to sort out your problems as I have my own.

I have Aspergers, social anxiety, some form of Tourettes and Trich. I suspect I have traces of ADHD/ADD (my two closest friends have ADHD).
