I have been on different dosages of Synthroid since Sept. '06 , by my GP. Sometimes it helps, sometimes it doesn t !! (At least, I m not sure it s helping anything.)

After being diagnosed with Fibro also, on my second visit to Neuro , we were discussing my health issues in general and I asked him about taking all of my meds (Synthroid, Lyrica, Zocor, calcium and vitamin) at the same time first thing in the AM.

He said ""no,no,no...NEVER take your Synthroid at the same time as other meds because it tends to adhere itself to these meds instead of distributing throughout your bloodstream and going where it is needed"" ...

Has your Neuro or any dr. told you the same thing ?

There is nothing about this on the label of my prescription bottle nor in the brouchure included with my 'script.

Sooooo ... now I am taking it as soon as I get up in the AM and not taking the remainder of meds until mid-morning and late afternoon.

I DO intend to discuss this with my GP but next appt.is not until the end of August.

I would appreciate any input you have in this matter .

TIA

I have never been told that by my doc. When you think about it, it kind of makes sence. I am going to talk with my pharmisy the next time I get my meds filled. I have found that sometimes they know more about the details of medications better then the doc.

I would love to hear what anyone finds out.

Ok, I talked to the pharmacy tody. I was told that some medications have to be taken alone. My personal medications have no problem when taken together. I was told that because I only use one pharmacy and they are able to track what I take, they know when to notify my about changing things with my meds.

So I would suggest that everyone should check with the parmacy and see what they say.,

Bears, the label on my Synthroid says ""take on an empty stomach 1 hour prior or 2-3 hours following a meal"" but nothing about NOT taking it with other meds .

I don t see Neuro until next week or GP until next month so think I will talk with pharmacist when get refills in late this week. I will let you know what I find out ...

Synthroid should not be taken with calcium or iron supplements. These can interfere with absorption. Just to be safe, I take nothing else within 3 hours of my synthroid.
