my sister has metastatic follicular thyroid cancer

I am looking for others who are being treated with Sorafenib for their advanced thyroid cancer. My sister found out she had cancer over 6 years ago when they removed part of a tumor in her spine. Since then she has had several surgeries and radioactive iodine treatments. 1 1/2 weeks ago she started on this new drug. She is experiencing side effects and is taking a week off for a rest to heal. Anyone else had experience with this? Do the side effects get better?

I have never heard of this drug before. Is she in a drug trial and it is not actually out yet or is it on the market? Yvette

p.s I'm sorry to hear of your sisters aggressive form of thyroid cancer. we are often told that this is the "best" cancer to have as it is so curable. Unfortunately, we don't all fit into the "usual thyroid cancer experience" good luck to her and I will keep her in my prayers, yvette
