MDJunction to me

neshama48"Having Crohn's Disease for over 26 years, in the first few years, it lonely and isolating.
Though now my disease is in a near perfect remission, my friends and family are sympathetic to me, but I can not talk to them about this disease. When I stumbled across MD Junction, and met others who had the same disease I was not alone in battling the disease. MD Junction is like a second family, without the judgement or guilt of having Crohn's Disease, but they do give you love and support.

I'm 17 and my boyfriend is almost 23, he's been out of highschool for almost 5 years, and now that I'm pregnant he's deciding he wants to go back to college. Which means if I'm getting any child support it would be minimal. I don't want to tell him he can't go to college because I know it would be good for him but now doesn't seem like the right time.. I have no idea what to do anymore, suggestions?

I definitely don't think it right to say its a bad time. There's never a bad time to go to college. If he puts it off further, chances are he won't go at all. I think education is incredibly important. He should still have to work a much as possible to help pay for your child but there is government assistance too. It's definitely not okay to ask him I put it off. The same way that you'll be continuing school, he should be able to also.

The problem I'm having is that he doesn't want to work more and with the student loans he will be taking there isn't much room left to help support our child. I definitely want him to get a good education its just frustrating me that he chose now since he's had all this time, that's all

well maybe you could talk to him about working? there's only so much working he can do if he's a full-time student but maybe if you really explain to him how much you'll be making plus how much government assistance you'll get and that you'll need approximately so much from him so he knows what will be expected and make sure it's reasonable. he has the same right to go to school as you do. i know it's frustrating and it probably seems like bad timing to you but that's just a selfish thing to act on. you get to continue going to school, if for some reason he's realized that it's the best thing for him too why wouldn't you support that? and in a couple of years, he'll have a much better paying job and be able to support you guys so much better in the long-run.

He won't be able to get into the semester until may or even September if the summer semester is booked full. He doesn't want to work until then, and that's frustrating. Because of where I live I'm not continuing to go to school, instead I'm doing online school, I also miss out on everything to do with graduating with my friends. I don't expect a lot of money from him, I don't expect anything but all along he's been planning to support his child and that has sort of stopped, all I'm asking is for a little money each month to help me with buying the necessities, like diapers

that's completely reasonable. and if he really isn't willing, you can take it to court and they'll make sure you get it. but i recommend really trying to work it out without dragging it into court. that's not the more pleasant way for anybody. i definitely think he should work until he starts school and work reduced hours even after that. i work part-time, raise a child and go to school full-time. it is possible but it's much more stressful that way. and if you don't mind me asking, is there no way for you to go to school even part-time? i know i left high school when i got pregnant because it was the simplest way and it seemed like the best decision at the time but i wish i'd made it work and gone.

I definitely don't want to have to take it to court, but I really think he needs to realize he needs to work before he goes to school, especially if he can't even get into school until September. I could go to school part time but I'm not sure how comfortable I'd be at my school. Besides missing out on all the grad related things I feel like this is a better solution. I wouldn't feel comfortable around the people at my school

If he's your boyfriend, why would you file for child support? Like others said, there is never a bad time for going to college, he'll just have to know to make his schedule in a way where he can still spend time with his child, as well as work. It's hard, but definitely doable!

We don't live together and I don't think if I didn't file for child support I would get any money from him to help support his child
