I had a c-section and it went great, but I did have a medical reason for one. What are your reason for not wanting to have a vaginal birth? If there is no medical reason I don't see why you would go through unnecessary major surgery.

A C-section is considered major surgery and you really should try to deliver vaginally. I realize it's scary and contractions are painful and whatnot, but it's the better and safer way to go. Also there are doctors and nurses there to help you manage pain as well as talk you through everything. You should only get a C-section for medical reasons such as a breech baby or the umbilical cord is wrapped around the baby's neck. Why do you want a C-section so badly?

alright, so i know it's major surgery but i was EXACTLY like you. i didn't want to go through labor and having a vaginal birth either. i tried everything i could to convince my doctor to give me a c-section. honestly, if i hadn't loved my doctor so much, i would have left and found one that would do it. there are doctors who will do planned c-sections. not many, but there are some. i didn't end up convincing my doctor but i ended up not being able to do it so they offered me one. i'd been in labor for almost 36 hours and i was completely dialated but that baby just wasn't coming out of me and i was too exhausted so i got one. honestly, i'm definitely glad i did. i recovered great. now, it IS major surgery and there are complications and things that make it really dangerous but i do understand where you're coming from. why do you want one?

Well I had a planned c-section but I had a medical reason. The only problem I had with it was that they couldn't get my spinal in so they had to put me under, so I was not awake for my child birth and I didn't get to see her for an hour because I had to wait in recovery. I would say unless you have a medical need to have the baby naturaly. Everything will be fine and its safer for the baby. when you give birth the fluids get pushed out of the babys lungs and with a c-section the baby does not get that so sometimes there can be complications. Why do you want to have a c-section?

Hey I'm Megan, I'm 17 and had my baby girl on February 22.

Honestly, I was terrified of giving birth too and I almost asked my doctor to do a c-section instead. But I'm SO GLAD I didn't - labor and delivery went so great. I got an epidural as soon as I could - I was only dilated like 2 or 3. After that it was really easy. They broke my water at 5 cm, and an hour and a half later I was ready to push! They made me push in sets of threes, and on the third set of three she was out - it took like ten minutes. It was soo easy and I didn't feel any pain at all, even during pushing. I didn't tear or need stitches either so recovery was also easy - I felt back to normal in less than two weeks.

So my advice would be to at least try to deliver vaginally, because it might not be as bad as you're expecting it to be, and the recovery time is usually less too. (:
