How are ya'll doing/going to do it?

I haven't really wanted to start working because I want to focus on my online classes to hurry through my college gen eds but looking at the costs statistics and etc....It makes me feel like I should really look into a job. The reason I don't have one is I live in a small town and couldn't really find a job here or somewhere that would pay enough to be worth a drive. Recently I did receive a job offer that pays $15 an hour which would really be nice but will slow down my college progress... and I have yet to find out what the drive would be. Then the baby on top of all that later...

Basically I want to know how you're making ends meet or how you're planning to and any suggestions/advice you have would be nice.

Welcome to our group. The cost of raising a child is worth every sacrafice made. It takes a lot. Especially for single mothers. Fortunately I am lucky and I have a husband that works 50-60 hours a week to support our family of 6. And on top of that I work 40 hrs. a week. (That's when none of the kids are sick) But raising a family has a number of sacrifices.

I just worry I won't be able to give my baby everything he/she deserves. Even tho my mother is against me having a baby so soon I know she will completely spoil him/her just like she does any family member or even friends children (She loves kids). I just don't want to ask her for too much, I don't understand how she made ends meet raising me and I want to be the one to take care of MY child. I'm lucky enough to have a house of my own and the love of my life to be here but I'm so scared we won't be able to do it.

Well I guess it included housing and stuff too but apparently that's the average cost :/ Last year when I took child development it was more than that, I think we had it rounded to about a grand per month.

it's expensive it really is. if you're going to school full-time i don't think it's so wrong to rely on your parents for the most part. i do, my mom even has custody of jake so he's on her health insurance. i just got a job a couple of weeks ago at Kmart part-time but i'm still taking a crazy 15 credit hours this semester of HARD shit by the way. haha. it's hard to keep it all straight. i'm gunna be paying one bill, whatever my mom picks, and then i'll save the rest for a car since i still don't even have a crappy one. lol.

definitely look into assistance though. WIC is great and there are a lot of different places that will help you while you're pregnant and once the baby comes. it can be a real life-saver some of that stuff. plus, used stuff is just as good as new so when you can get something used, do it. your baby just won't use it that long anyways, it's not worth paying to have it in a shiny box. lol.
