I recently applied for ssi and I went through a disability advocate. I have been unable to work for the past 10 years due to severe anxiety and depression, I have extensive medical records confirming all the medications I have been on for the last 10 years. My question is this.. I have been married for 10 years and I have 3 kids, 2 boys 11&9 and a daughter who is 4. We have no source of income whatsoever. We do live in a house that is owned by my wife's grandpa and we don't pay any bills, so how much can I expect to receive in ssi benefits??? I can't seem to find any answers????Ermm

The max amount for SSI is about 700 dollars a month. I know it was 674 last year but with the cost of living increase its a little over 700 I believe. Sorry no one answered there isn't a whole lot of activity on this board yet.Over on the SSDI board you may find some good info by reading through the old posts, even though its a SSDI group there is tons of info on SSI there.

Applied for any local benefits such as food stamps, medicaid, welfare yet?

Local is where one would start...

So how long since you worked? Is your wife disabled and unable to work as well?

All I say is from own experiences, truthful from my point of view-I have positive outlook on life. I try to be helpful, am a good listener, am an outgoing people person.

I'm a Make-a-Difference person in that I do good deeds everyday, help others as I can..

Do unto others as you would have them do unto you

I believe in the Serenity prayer: God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know the difference.

Smile, God loves you!

THINK POSITIVE...things could be WORSE!

Yes the limit is $698.00 but many states add a supplement. Your children and wife are not entitled to any money unless they are disabled and have been approved.

I do believe that they will take into consideration that you have no rent and no bills to pay. This might affect the amount that you do get. With having the kids I would start with your local health and welfare office to apply for foodstamps, cash aid and medical for the kids. This will help you out as well. Good Luck
