MDJunction to me

Sylvia4648"I have suffered from depression most of my life, but had some long, non-depressed times. The last 16 years have been an on-going, constantly worsening nightmare for me medically, socially and with my family. 11/2008 to the present has been the worst time in my life, and new things just keep piling up. During that time I’ve gone from being mostly homebound to being totally homebound due to the errors of about 2 dozen doctors who overmedicated me so badly that I came home w/ 4 conditions I didn’t go in with. I spent months wanting to die, and finding MDJ may well have saved my life. It’s one of the worst feelings to know that nobody on earth needs you for anything; but now that I’ve been a group leader for awhile, there are people here who need me. Thanks MDJ." (Sylvia4648)

The simplest things (or Don't do the dumb thing that I just did Sideways )

I have found that the most simple, easy, everyday activities can throw spondylo pain into a frenzy.

Do you all have any experiences or tips about this?

I have spent the last 3 days barely able to move.

I was replanting/gardening on my deck. And I was squatting down (rather than sitting down cause the deck was hot).

I reached for a medium size pot filled with dirt with my right hand and started to drag it towards me and OWWWWWWW severe ripping pain at my L4/L5 area. Where the nerve is compressed by spondylo Dizzy

I am not sure what I did exactly but I cannot go from sitting to standing or walk much and even lying down is painful.

My tip is to always make sure your lower body is firmly grounded before pulling anything heavy towards you. sigh.

My advice is purely personal. I am not a Doctor and there is no substitute for getting proper medical diagnosis and advice.

meds: synthoid (hypothyroid), florinef (hypopituitary), gabapentin (spondylolisthesis)

That sucks!! I can't really think of anything that might help, except maybe take a HOT bath with Epsom salts (that will provide temproary relief for me sometimes) and then put an ice pack on your back after (I don't know if that actually helps, I never notice an improvement, but I'm always told to do it).

I am always told to do ice too...and it does seem to help but not for very long?

Thank you so much for the sweet advice.

Today, day 5 of sharp pain and immobility..I gave in and went to my ortho.

Not sure what happened (they think disc at L4/L5 or L5/S1 problem where spondylo is), I guess my back is visibly swollen too.

I am to start prednisone for 6 days which I have never had.

hope it helps Smile

I want to add that although I have been told to alternate between hot and cold, I recently saw a chiropractor who specifically told me to not use heat, just cold sensations. He seemed like a reasonable fellow, so I will be staying away from heat.
