In may 2011 I got 2 letters from ssa one saying you are disabled and disability began on so and so date the next letter in same envelope said you do have some disabilities but under our rules your not disabled.

How can one letter say your disabled and one say your not? I am po'ed

and at a loss. I have a hearing in Sept and hope to get some answers as to why I'm not getting any money or more important insurance.

My credits had run out but I did qualify for ssi due to income limits, I thought the 2 went by the same rules for disability.

Thanks

Emmy

That sounds like just the 'standard' denial letter.. Unfortunately all you can do now is wait for September for your hearing.. I know it stinks but thats all you can do. I had my hearing last September after waiting over a year so I know what your going through.Good luck and let us know how it turns out!

I think you have a good chance, what does your lawyer think or haven;t you got one??

Not wanting to get into trouble, am I allowed to post here although I am awaiting ssi?

onlinesales- yes, you can post here. Not everyone understands that there's a difference between SSI and SSD. Nor, that we have two groups.

Sounds all too familiar. One hand does one thing while the other does anouther. The system is broken and bad. Im going thru a mess right now too. I went thru your mess last year and yet anouther comes along cause SSA is messed up.

Good luck and do keep your chin up

My letter was much like yours they said we found you unable to perform your former jobs BUT there are other jobs that I could do. lmfao Its a tough game to play and it takes forever.

Yes both have my ssn# and one says it has been determined you are disabled and your disability begins on so and so date, based on all the evidence in your case, this is the date you became eligible for disability benefits, the other says all though you have limitations and can not return to work you have done in the past with your age and education (8th grade) there are other jobs you can do. You do not meet the requirements for disability.

Thank you all for responding.

That is weird about the two letters. Your attorney should have gotten this straightened out for you but since this occurred in "In may 2011" according to you, I can only assume that the 1st letter was sent out in error. At what level did you get these two letters? Are you still waiting on a hearing or has one been set already?

I got them 3 months after filing for disability in Feb 2011(1st stage) (no reconsideration in my state) in the same envelope. Title page of letter said ssdi and ssi unfavorable decision. I thought I was denied one and approved for the other, but I thought wrong. Wassat

My hearing is next month and attorney said this may help, just hoping all goes well.

Thanks for the feedback and please keep it coming.

Emmy

Ps

Did not get attorney until appeal was filed in May.
