i have applied for ssdi, had hearing, and waiting on my decision. i would like some opinions on this questions though. i was receiving public assistance but no longer because job and family services says that you have to work now to get it. i am ssdi pending and i am unable to work anyway (mental conditions) so i lost my benefits. i need opinions because before i left, there were some ssdi pending people still there and welfare is saying that this work will not affect your ssdi pending status. i says it will because you are there 7 1/2 hours a day for 3 1/2 weeks out of the month. catch-22 but what do you think?

Those hpurs are full time hours, it sure will affect your SSDI Because you are working, even though your not making over $1,010.00 a month, your still working full time, and when a judge makea a decision he makes it based on the fact that you cannot do any "Gainfull" Employment and if your working those hours for your benefits, then why can't you work them in the real world?

In Ohio I was told I didn't have to do the work program while we were receiving food stamps since I was in the process of getting SSDI. All I had to do was show proof I was waiting on a hearing for SSDI and they waived me from the work program.

i agree also that work is work. you see i live in ohio too and am in my fifties, and have 2 teenage boys still at home. i was receiving cash assistance in the amount of 450.00/month.i was lucky to have family to help with the bills but some are not so lucky and have continued to participate in the work program, i am sure the ssa will frown on that and you will be denied. concluding, i am just saying again, the welfare dept. is not being honest with people, and if you are truly unable to work, you would not, and be unable to participate.
