Did ya'll get lump sum back pay or get it in chunks? Social Security wants to give me $2K now, $2K in six months and the rest in a year. The problem is I have a bed held up by books, a recliner held together by reindeer packing tape, and a laptop held together by toothpicks, super glue and electrical tape. I need my back pay NOW not in a year. That isn't even addressing the medical testing I need not covered by insurance and the vehicle that bit the dust instead of lasting another six months. HELP!

If you are getting ssi that's how you get your back pay because you are not allowed over a certin amount of income. If you are getting ssdi you would get all of your backpay at once.

Ditto with the above, SSI back pay comes in 2 grand installments. If it was SSDI you'd get it all at once.

We figured out through hubby calling several times to figure out how we can apply to get more of the money and we are going to go do that on Monday.
